This model is a game-ready recreation of the late middle-age German Zweihander. This sword was commonly used against spear phalanx formation but there are also documents showing it was used in duels. Because the blade was so long in order to distance the user from the spears the blade was made as thin and narrow as possible so that it would be too heavy for soldiers to use.
Both high and low poly versions were modeled in Maya and then baked in substance painter where smart materials were used to create a realistic texture that would match with assets found in the Quixel library. Unreal Engine 5 was used for the beauty shoot where Quixel Megascane assets dress the scene. Realtime ray traced lighting is what brought the Zweihander to life in the scene.
